SALISBURY — The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office has identified two people in connection with a November carjacking and robbery.

Arrest warrants have been obtained for Jesse Allen Redding, 22, of Salisbury, and Cory Wayne Harrington, 26, of China Grove for felony robbery, according to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office. Calls from the public helped authorities determine the identities, said Capt. John Sifford.

On Nov. 22, the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office began investigating a robbery and carjacking that occurred on Courtney Lane.  During the robbery, the victim attempted to sell home theater equipment to two unknown suspects. The victim followed the suspects to a Rushco gas station at East Innes Street and Stokes Ferry Road, according to Sifford.

The seller showed the suspects the equipment in his vehicle. One of the suspects went into the store while the other went back to the car. The victim then followed the suspects to Courtney Lane. When they arrived at Courtney Lane, the suspects took control of the victim’s vehicle.

The victim attempted to get into the back of his vehicle but was thrown from it when the suspects accelerated as they took off.  The vehicle and home theater equipment were stolen, but only the vehicle was later recovered partially submerged in High Rock Lake.

Investigators were able to obtain photos from the Rushco gas station and of the suspect that pumped gas and then went into the store. He purchased a pack of Marlboro cigarettes, attempted without success to use the ATM and then left.
