Blotter: Pair of assaults, rash of DWIs over the weekend

SALISBURY — Josue Jonathan Bonilla, 26, of Salisbury, was charged with misdemeanor assault inflicting serious injury on Sunday after allegedly striking another man in the face 10 to 15 times with a closed fist, inflicting a broken nose, causing an eye to swell shut and facial bruising.

Another man, Bryan Phillip ONeal, 39, of Kannapolis, was arrested after allegedly attempting to back over a woman with a vehicle, then shoving another man off a porch and punching him in the face. ONeal also allegedly possessed the painkiller hydrocodone unlawfully, and was charged with misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon, misdemeanor simple assault and misdemeanor possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.

In other reports:

  • LaQuan D’Mont Po, 21, of Grovetown, Georgia, was charged on Saturday with felony possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and misdemeanor simple possession of a Schedule VI substance after allegedly being found in possession of MDMA and marijuana.
  • A man who has refused to identify himself to authorities was arrested and charged with felony breaking or entering a motor vehicle on Sunday after allegedly breaking in to a Chevrolet HHR, intending to steal valuables from the car. John Doe’s address is listed on arrest documents as “Streets of Landis.”
  • There were a number of of DWI charges over the weekend, with eight people arrested for the offense.
