Classes in Davie County

Davidson County Community College will offer the following continuing education classes on the Davie Campus and at the Davie Education Center. Cloud Computing: Really? ó CID 26407. What is cloud computing? What role might it play at home, the office or for the traveling professional? Applicable terms and concepts will be discussed to help the end user evaluate if such technology would be beneficial. Today, Davie Campus, noon-1:30 p.m.
Genealogy: Intermediate ó CID 26409. Students will use the Internet to locate information using reliable websites and discuss strategies for online research. Field trips will enable students to review town and county histories, newspapers and library research. Nov. 19-Dec. 17, Saturday, Davie Campus, 9-11 a.m.
Notary ó CID 26684. This course meets state requirements for certification as a notary public. Participants must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent. A convicted felon is not eligible to obtain a notary license in North Carolina. The textbook is required. Nov. 28-30, Monday and Wednesday, Davie Education Center, 6-9 p.m.
Kudzu Basket Weaving ó Cherokee Indians enjoyed the benefits of the Kudzu vine beyond its initial use for erosion control. Students will enjoy seeing what this vine can do as they learn the craft of basket making. Each vine has a distinct personality and will yield a unique finished product. Building Standard Inspection Level I ó CID 25798. This course is designed for the education of the Building Level I official that inspects residential and small construction up to 20,000 square feet. Dec. 9-18, Friday, Saturday, Sunday; Davie Campus, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
