ROCKWELL ó Shive Elementary School received a $2,500 grant through The Home Depot Foundationís Building Healthy Communities program.
The donation will be used to build picnic tables for an existing outdoor classroom.
ěThis grant, written by Connie McCombs and Pam Bloom, will provide combined seating for up to four classes of students,î Principal Zebbie-Bradley Bondurant said.
ěThe Shive PTA SWARM provided funding to build our learning shelter and the picnic tables will complete our outdoor classroom.
ěThese tables will also provide seating at events that bring our school and community together.î
The Building Healthy Communities grant program supports the work that local nonprofit organizations, public schools and other community organizations are doing to improve the physical health of their neighborhoods.
