Catawba’s Joe Watson and Paul Kronenfeld were drafted on Sunday.
Watson, a 6-foot-3, 225- pound right-handed pitcher who also played wideout for Catawba’s football team, was drafted based on his enormous athletic potential.
Watson was a 12th-round pick by the Texas Rangers and was No. 366 overall.
A Davie County product, Watson, 21, is a junior. He was 1-2 with a 6.41 ERA in 13 appearances, including three starts this season, but his upside is tremendous if he figures out his mechanics and the strike zone. His fastball was clocked in the upper 90s by scouts this season.
In 27 inning this season, Watson struck out 31 and walked 21.
Kronenfeld, 22, is a senior first baseman and was an academic All-American. He was drafted by the Cincinatti Reds on the 25th round. He was the 755th overall pick.
Kronenfeld was outstanding in his two seasons at Catawba after transferring from Georgia Tech.
He is big (6-3, 225), runs well and is a lefty hitter. He has some versatility as he can play an outfield corner as well as first base.
He batted .361 for the Indians as a senior, with 54 runs and 43 RBIs. He belted six homers and a SAC-leading 21 doubles. He drew a team-high 34 walks in 55 games and posted a .446 on-base percentage.
East Rowan’s Brittany Small won the high jump for 15-16 year-olds in the State Games.

Carson Junior Legion defeated Mooresville Post 537 5-0 on Friday.
Kris Peacock pitched six innings for the win. Cameron Pugh and Ryan Bearden had RBI doubles. Matt Van Dyne pitched well for the Legends.
• Carson is at home today for a doubleheader against West Rowan. The first game is at 4 p.m. and counts in the league. The second game at 7 will be non-league.
• West Rowan won 19-3 against Montgomery County on Friday.

West Rowan senior Jake Kennedy, who has signed with Gardner-Webb, competed in the 54th North Carolina Amateur Championship atCarolina Golf Club in Charlotte on Friday.
Kennedy shot 76-76 — 152 and finished 10-over. The cutline for the final two rounds fell at 3-over.
West golfer Coyte Kyles caddied for Kennedy.
The 12th annual Rowan Masters is set for Warrior on June 27-29.
Qualifying is June 21.
The qualifying round is 18 holes of stroke play. The low 31 scorers will join defending champion Phil Miller in a match-play tournament.
All entrants must have amateur status. The cost is $60 for non-members and $30 for members. Entry fee includes green fee, cart and range balls for the qualifying round. The champion receives a trophy, a one-year bronze membership and a $250 gift certificate.
• There will be a junior golf camp at Crescent on June 16-19. The cost is $100.

The Asheville Tourists scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to beat the Kannapolis Intimidators 6-4 on Friday in Asheville.
• The Intimidators lost 7-3 in 13 innings as Asheville on Saturday.

Corey Seager (NW Cabarrus, Kannapolis Legion) hit two homers on Friday for Rancho Cucamonga and drove in four runs.
Seager has 11 homers, 44 RBIs and a .348 batting average and a promotion to Double A can’t be far away.
• Jordan Jankowski (Catawba) had a great start for Corpus Christi, Houston’s Double A team, on Friday. He reached the eighth inning, striking out seven. He allowed three hits and one walk for his first win of the season.
• Justin Seager (NWC, Kannapolis Legion) had two hits Friday for Clinton and is batting .257 with one homer and 11 RBIs.
