SALISBURY — The Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education will meet Monday for its monthly business meeting.

The meeting agenda is slim, but includes a presentation from Rowan County Early College students about possible solutions and ideas to school issues.

According to the board’s agenda, administrators from North Rowan High School will also request a calendar change for the 2018-19 school year. North Rowan is one of several schools in the district to qualify for a charter-like restart, which gives it the ability to set its own calendar.

Administrators have requested that the school follow a similar calendar as Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, due to a large number of students taking classes there alongside their high school curriculum. If approved, students at North would start school on Aug. 1, and break for summer on May 21, 2019. The change would also allow North Rowan to hold exams before students go on Winter Break in December.

The board will meet in the Wallace Educational Forum board room, 500 N. Main St. The meeting will begin at 4 p.m. with closed session, and Celebrations will be held at 5 p.m. Public comment will be at 6 p.m.
