Blotter: Man charged with 3 counts of breaking and entering vehicles

SALISBURY — Police charged a Charlotte man with three counts of breaking and entering and one count of larceny after breaking into cars at Clancy Hills Apartments on Wednesday.

Police Capt. Melonie Thompson said that Timothy Warren Ellerbe, 20, was seen breaking into cars at the apartment complex and a tenant called the police. The person said the man they saw was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and pants.

When the officer arrived at the scene, he looked at surveillance video and saw that a black male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and pants had gone inside the complex and came back out wearing a multicolored shirt and shorts.

The officer located Ellerbe inside an apartment and found the sweatshirt and pants. The pants were wet and had grass clipping on them and the officer noticed that the bottom of his pants were wet with grass clippings on them from walking through the grass, as well.

One victim reported a missing car charger, but the officer found a charger on the ground close by. Another victim reported stolen items including a credit card, an electronic benefit transfer card and a wallet.

Ellerbe was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond on Wednesday. He was banned from Clancy Hills Apartments.

  • A woman reported a burglary at the 700 block of Barringer Street in Salisbury on Tuesday.
  • A woman reported that someone broke into her vehicle at the 200 block of Zion Church Road in Gold Hill on Tuesday.
  • A woman reported a burglary at the 3300 block of Statesville Boulevard on Tuesday.
  • Tracy Lynn Dearth, 38, was charged Tuesday as a fugitive from justice on Tuesday at the 5800 block of South Main Street.
  • Houston Ray McCarn, 20, was charged Tuesday with possession with intent to manufacture a controlled schedule VI substance at the 2000 block of West C Street in Kannapolis.
  • Leslie Marie Plagens-Eidson, 34, was charged Tuesday with simple assault at the 100 block of West Liberty Street.
  • Victor Proigie Lyles, 18, was charged Tuesday with breaking and entering at the 700 block of Barringer Street.
  • Malik Devonta Lyles, 19, was charged Tuesday with breaking and entering at the 700 block of Barringer Street.
  • Kia Mon Cherie Springs, 46, was charged Tuesday as a fugitive from justice at the 100 block of West Liberty Street.
  • Ashley Paige Kramer, 26, was charged Tuesday with possession of a schedule III controlled substance at the 8600 block of Red Road in Salisbury.
