Sunday shooting suspect’s charges upgraded to attempted murder

LANDIS — The Rowan County man accused for involvement for a domestic-related shooting over the weekend has had his charges upgraded to attempted first degree murder. 

Jacob Seth Jennelle, 26, was initially charged with shooting into an occupied property for his alleged role in the incident that occurred approximately 12:23 p.m. on Sunday near the intersection of U.S. 29 and Old Beatty Ford Road.

Landis Police Chief Matthew Geelen confirmed the new charges on Tuesday.

According to a release from the Landis Police Department, the unidentified victim reportedly sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident and was treated on the scene.

The release added, “The Landis Police Department would like to thank the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office and the China Grove Police Department for their assistance. We would also like to thank the Rowan County District Attorney’s Office for their assistance. 

“The safety and well-being of our community members is our top priority. We are committed to thoroughly investigating this incident and are thankful for the collaboration and support of our neighboring law enforcement agencies.”
