Harold B. Jarrett American Legion Auxiliary sponsors three for Tar Heel Girls State

The Harold B. Jarrett American Legion Auxiliary Unit 342 will sponsor three young ladies to attend the 75th session of Tar Heel Girls State this summer.
Tar Heel Girls State will be held at Catawba College June 15-21. Tar Heel Girls State is a week-long, practical study of the structure and operation of North Carolina state government.
The non-partisan program takes a hands-on approach to learning how state and local governments function. The program is offered to rising senior girls who are in the top third of their class.
The auxiliary is sponsoring:
• Arielle “Elle” Wimmer, daughter of Mark and Amy Wimmer. Elle is a junior at Salisbury High School. She has participated in Salisbury’s soccer and cross country teams since her freshman year. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club and prom committee.
• Veronica Leasure, daughter of David and Kathy Leasure. Veronica is a junior at North Rowan High School. She is a member of the North Rowan girls tennis team and a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club, student government, Glee Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and jazz band.
• Kristen Estepp, daughter of Christopher and Angie Estepp. Kristen is a junior at North Rowan High School. She is a North Rowan varsity cheerleader. She is also a member of the Key Club, Junior Civitans and National Honor Society.
