Rockwell Christian students qualify for international competition

After a week of competition among hundreds of students from the Carolinas, Virginia, Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee and Maryland, twenty-six students from Rockwell Christian School earned the privilege of advancing to competition on the international level in Pennsylvania. The competition takes place May 24 through 29, and they will compete with students from around the world. The purpose of these student conventions is to help the young people discover and hone their skills and talents for use in ministry to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ.
Months of preparation in the areas of academics, music, platform, athletics and exhibits, such as photography, needle and thread, art and wood-, clay-, and metal-working were rewarded with one hundred and thirty medals in fifty-three different categories.
Rockwell Christian School received first place in athletics, second place in music and academics; and third place in exhibits — four of the five over-all school awards.
First place – boys’ basketball team, girls’ volleyball team, large ensemble; Bible Bowl team including Nathan Hoehman, Abbie Hoehman, Michael Hoehman, Titus Cruse and Jonah Patil; Erica Chilson, Micah Eagle and Nathan Hoehman in academics; Hannah Preslar in platform; Erica Chilson and Tyler Eagle in exhibits; Jennifer Miller and Rachael Rogers in the needle and thread and Josh Atkins, Titus Cruse, Micah Eagle, Tyler Eagle, Joel Patil and Faris Rogers in athletics.
Second place – small ensemble; Micah Eagle, Nathan Hoehman, Joel Patil, Jonah Patil and Hannah Preslar in academics; Nathan Hoehman in music; Josh Atkins and Joel Patil in athletics; Isaiah Dulin in preaching; Sarah Drye in needle and thread; Faris Rogers in woodturning and Erica Chilson in photography.
In addition to an exciting week of competition, the students and staff experienced a week of spiritual growth through the nightly services directed by the staff of The Wilds Christian Youth Camp.
