R3 Center’s August workshops

The R3 Center is offering numerous career development workshops and resume clinics in August for adults in Rowan and Cabarrus counties. All of the programs are provided free-of-charge.
Each Wednesday in August, the R3 Center will have R3 Clinics available at the N.C. Department of Commerce Division of Workforce Solutions/JobLink Career Centers in both Rowan and Cabarrus counties. The clinics will feature New Client Launch Appointments, Resume Screening, Career Coaching and R3 Workshops. Clients wanting to attend an R3 clinic are asked to call 704-216-3664 to schedule an appointment. The workshop schedule for August will be:
• Aug. 7: Interview Techniques

• Aug. 14: Identifying Your Career Options
• Aug. 21: Looking for Work as a 20-Something
• Aug. 28: Looking for Work at 50+
The clinics are designed to be quick and informative. These mobile R3 clinics are a way to meet new clients and work closer with JobLink partners.
Salisbury location: DWS/JobLink Center, 1904 S. Main St.
Concord Location: DWS/JobLink Center, 2275 Kannapolis Hwy.
For those looking to attend workshops onsite at the R3 Career Center, services are offered at 200 West Ave., in Kannapolis. The R3 Center is a career development center established by Rowan-Cabarrus Community College to assist displaced workers, those who are unemployed or under-employed.
The center’s August schedule of workshops includes the following sessions. Due to the popularity of its free sessions, the R3 Center strongly encourages clients to call in advance to reserve a place, 704-216-7201.
New Client Launch is an orientation workshop for persons who have never attended an R3 Center workshop or taken advantage of its other services. New Client Launch appointments are available Monday-Friday and can be made by calling 704-216-7201.

• Interview Techniques — 11 a.m., Aug. 19;
• Networking Methods — 2 p.m., Aug. 13;
• Stand Out from the Competition – 9 a.m., Aug. 23; 2 p.m., Aug. 15;
• Looking for Work at 50+ – 9 a.m., Aug. 5;
• Looking for Work with a Criminal Record – 11 a.m., Aug. 29;
• Letter Writing for the Job Seeker – 11 a.m., Aug. 12;
• Online Job Hunting – 9 a.m., Aug. 16.
The R3 Center also will offer multiple resume clinics to help job searchers improve their current resume or create a new one from start to finish. Please call to reserve a seat. The resume clinics are scheduled for: 9 a.m., Aug. 6, 12 and 19; 10 a.m. Aug. 27.
The R3 Center helps adult workers assess their skills, aptitudes, training and academic credentials, and future career interests to develop an action plan for career growth. All R3 Center services are provided free-of-charge. The center’s normal office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
