SALISBURY – A Granite Quarry man nearly beaten to death with a two-by-four during a fight Friday remains in serious condition, hospital officials said.
Terry Charleston, 50, of Charleston Lane, was upgraded Sunday from critical to serious condition at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, but has not improved since.
Rowan deputies arrested 45-year-old Perry Mason Hackett, of Cemetery Circle, at his home following the altercation.
Investigators believe alcohol was a factor. The report said the incident “supposedly started over a woman.”
Hackett was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
He remained in Rowan County jail Tuesday under a $50,000 bond.
