SALISBURY — A prescription pill bottle and a half-squeezed tube of Fixodent led deputies to charge a Salisbury man with breaking and entering on Thursday.
Rowan County investigators said 44-year-old Kelly Dean Foy, 2190 Mt. Hope Church Road, broke into his friend Travis Stiller’s home while Stiller was in jail pending two driving while impaired charges and stole more than $10,000 from him.
After being convicted of both counts on Dec. 7 and sentenced to 72 months probation, Stiller was on the phone with authorities just hours later.
Stiller told deputies that he had been in jail since Nov. 5. Neighbors said they had seen a red S-10 Chevrolet truck at the 184 Geiger Lane home since then.
Inside the home detectives found two pill bottles, one with the name Kelly Foy, an open tube of Fixodent, a pill crusher and various clothes around the home that did not belong to Stiller.
Stiller told officers that Foy, who wears dentures, was a friend of his, but didn’t have permission to be inside the home.
Investigators also learned that Foy was being investigated by Salisbury Police for several fraud cases.
The report said a rifle, RCA television and $10,000 was taken from the residence.
Foy was charged Thursday with felony breaking and entering, felony larceny, three counts of felony obtaining property by false pretense and failure to appear in court.
He was given a $21,500 bond.
