Authorities are still searching for a Salisbury man who they say robbed a former classmate at gunpoint.
The Rowan County Sheriffís Office said deputies are searching for 20-year-old Rennel Jeffrey Parson Jr., 911 N. Church St., who they believe robbed Channing Peoples in Peoplesí front yard Sept. 25 with a silver pistol.
A report about the incident said Parson allegedly demanded Peoplesí ěmoney and his weed.î
The Sheriffís Office said Peoples told the man that he didnít have anything. Parson then allegedly checked the victim pockets and didnít find anything.
Parson then stole the Motorola Droid cell phone that Peoplesí was holding and fled on foot. An arrest warrant for felony robbery with a dangerous weapon valued the phone at $200.
Parson was charged by Salisbury police in August after authorities said he was seen engaged in a drug deal at the intersection of Standish Street and Brenner Avenue.
According to a Salisbury Police Department report, Parson was found in possession of 1.7 grams of powder cocaine, 1.1 grams of crack cocaine and 19.3 grams of marijuana. He was charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a controlled substance.
The Sheriffís Office asks that anyone with information about Parson contact Lt. Chad Moose at 704-216-8687 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-639- 5245.
