Andrea Beaver named to Palmer deanís list
Andrea Beaver of China Grove has been named to the deanís list at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Port Orange, Fla.
The daughter of Keith and Renee Beaver of China Grove, she graduated from South Rowan High School in 2004 and from Pfeiffer University in 2008 with a bachelor of science in exercise science.
Cannon School open houses
CONCORD ń Cannon School will open its doors to host fall open house events for families seeking to explore educational opportunities in grades junior kindergarten-12. Families are invited to attend at a date and time that fits in their busy schedules.
The open houses will be held in Taylor Hall on the following dates:
Friday, Oct. 7, 10 a.m. ó Grades junior Kindergarten-fourth.
Thursday, Oct. 13, 7 p.m. ó Grades junior Kindergarten-12th.
Saturday, Nov. 5, 1 p.m. óGrades Junior Kindergarten-12th.
Visiting families will have an opportunity to tour the campus, speak one-on-one with parents and students about the schoolís academic, arts and athletic programs, and learn more about the admission process.

Nursing assistant classes
Certified Nursing Assistant I classes will begin on Monday, Sept. 12 at the New Careers Learning Center in Kannapolis. The three-week sessions will take place Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. ńnoon and 6-9 p.m. The building is located at 510 Old Centergrove Road in the Marable Memorial Plaza.

Home school groupto meet
Rowan County Home School Association Member Support Meeting will be Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m., at High Rock Community Church on Jake Alexander Boulevard, next to the Y.
This meeting will consist of a main meeting (15 minutes) that will give updated information, then will move into two breakout sessions. Each session will be half an hour long. The first is a choice between Sue Patrickís Workbox System and Couponing; the second between N.C. Laws and Regulations or Balancing Home Life and School.
