Tyro TIP student
Rance Orrell of the Churchland community and a seventh-grade student at Tyro Middle School, was invited to the 2011 North Carolina Recognition Ceremony honoring students in the 7th Grade Duke Talent Identification Program (TIP) Talent Search with high SAT scores.
Duke TIP identifies exceptional seventh-grade students from across the United States who score in the 95th percentile in their grade level achievement tests. These students qualify to take the ACT and SAT with high school students.
Orrell was recognized on Friday, May 20 at a ceremony held at Wake Forest University. He was recognized for having earned a score that was equal to or better than half of the college-bound seniors who took the same tests. Rance is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Rusty Orrell.
