Nina Pope’s first-grade class at Isenberg Elementary School received a letter from President Barack Obama on April 6.
The president’s letter was in response to letters the students sent to the White House in honor of President’s Day last February.
The letter was included in a packet that held information about healthy lifestyles and care of the environment. It also included photos of the president, the first family and the first dog, Bo.
In the letter, President Obama said, “Our country’s continued success will depend on your generation, and young people like you give me great hope for the future. I encourage you to always dream big, try to improve the lives of others, and aim for excellence in all that you do.”
