Genelda Cook Hunt

SALISBURY – Genelda Cook Hunt, 69, formerly of Dunham Ave., died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007, at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Born Sept. 1, 1937, in Rowan County, Mrs. Hunt was the daughter of the late Ernest and Marie Eagle Cook. She was educated in Salisbury schools and graduated from Boyden High School, Salisbury Business College and Rowan-Cabarrus Community College.

Mrs. Hunt was employed for N.C. Finishing Co., Mustang Enterprise and AFLAC Insurance Co. and was a homemaker.

She was a member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church, Wesley Shore Sunday School Class, United Methodist Women, was a choir member, taught Sunday School and served as Administrative Board Secretary. She was an avid Angel collector with over 500 angels.

She was preceded in death by husband William Ray Hunt Sr. on Aug. 12, 1991.

Survivors include her daughters, Sheila Gunner of Kannapolis and Lynn Bernhardt and husband Jeff of Salisbury; sons William R. “Billy” Hunt Jr. and wife Jane of Statesville and Steven Wayne Hunt and wife Dawn of Salisbury; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Service: 2 p.m. Sunday at Park Avenue United Methodist Church with the Rev. Annalee Allen, pastor, the Rev. Neville Storey and the Rev. Kevin House officiating. Mrs. Hunt will be placed in the church at 1:30. Interment will follow at Rowan Memorial Park.

Visitation: 6-8 tonight at Summersett Funeral Home, and at other times, the family will be at their respective homes.
