Accused fugitive caught in Spencer
SALISBURY — An accused fugitive from Florida is expected to be extradited after deputies arrested him Thursday.
Fernando Encarnacion was charged with fugitive from justice and placed in the Rowan County jail Thursday night.
Investigators said Encarnacion had warrants for unemployment compensation fraud from 2010.
Deputy J.M. Huffman stopped Encarnacion when the Florida man’s 2011 Chevy Malibu ran a stop sign in Spencer, a police report said.
He was placed in jail under a $100,000 bond.
Officers said Florida officials have confirmed Encarnacion will be extradited.
