KANNAPOLIS – Police are investigating three robberies that happened in the Kannapolis area Thursday.
Investigators said the robbery spree started when a male with short hair robbed the Express Mart on North Main Street about 2:30 p.m.
Two hours later, police said, a man wearing dark clothing robbed Shoe Show on North Cannon Boulevard.
A few blocks away, a Rushco gas station was robbed about 10:50 p.m.
Authorities are providing few details, but officers said a gun was displayed in the Express Mart and Shoe Show robberies.
Investigators said a similar description of the suspect was given in those two robberies.
He was described as a black male with short hair wearing dark clothing with some type of face paint.
At the Rushco, the suspect was described as a white male between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-10.
Both men are believed to be in their 50s.
“Due to the closeness in times of these incidents, we are looking at any possible links between them,” said Lt. Terry Spry in an e-mail Friday.
