Blotter: 24 cases of fraud reported before holiday

The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office reported 24 cases of fraud by false pretense Wednesday.

  • Quick Cash Pawn at the 2000 block of Statesville Boulevard reported two instances of someone attempting to pawn stolen property.
  • State Employees Credit Union reported that fraudulent transactions took place on someone’s bank account.
  • Rite Aid at the 500 block of U.S. 29 in China Grove reported a fraudulent transaction.
  • Food Lion at the 100 block of South U.S. 29 Highway in China Grove reported a fraudulent transaction.
  • Walgreens at the 700 block of West Jake Alexander Boulevard reported a fraudulent transactions.
  • Sprint at the 900 block of East Innes Street reported a fraudulent transaction.
  • The N.C. DMV Registration Office at the 100 block of East Kerr Street reported fraudulent activity.
  • Longhorn Steakhouse at the 1300 block of Klumac Road reported a fraudulent transaction.
  • Ruscho Markets at the 2500 of North Cannon Boulevard in Kannapolis reported a fraudulent transaction.
  • Walmart reported a fraudulent transaction.
  • Ichiban Japanese Seafood reported a fraudulent transaction.
  • Love’s Travel Plaza reported a fraudulent transaction.
  • Zip-n-go at the 1400 block of North Main Street in China Grove reported a fraudulent transaction.
  • Rushco Food Store at the 600 block of North Main Street in Kannapolis reported a fraud by false pretense.
  • Wilco Hess Station at the 900 block of Peeler Road reported a fraudulent transaction.
  • Kohl’s at the 1300 block of Klumac Road reported a fraudulent transaction.
  • Dish Network at the 400 block of Moon Circle reported a fraudulent transaction.
  • Kimbrell’s Furniture at the 2100 block of Statesville Boulevard reported a fraudulent transaction.
  • Bojangles at the 900 block of Peeler Road reported a fraudulent transaction.
  • Food Lion at the 1400 block of South Main Street in China Grove reported a fraudulent transaction.
  • Fast Stop Market at the 2200 block of South Main Street reported a fraudulent transaction.
  • Shell Oil at the 1000 block of East Innes Street reported a fraudulent transaction.
  • The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a fraud by false pretense.

  • A woman at the 100 block of Cade Lane, Kannapolis reported Wednesday that a passenger failed to pay a $17 cab fare.
  • A man at the 4000 block of Mooresville Road reported Wednesday that 11 guns and a chainsaw were stolen from his residence.
  • A woman at the 11000 block of N.C. 801 Highway in Mt. Ulla reported credit card fraud Wednesday.
  • A woman at the 2500 block of Saw Road in China Grove reported Wednesday that someone broke into her residence and a storage building an stole a 48-inch television and a .22 rifle.
  • A man reported Wednesday that someone stole items from the 100 block of Mahaley Road.
  • Joshua Lee Meece, 28, was charged Wednesday with obtaining property by false pretenses at the 400 block of Grace Church Road.
  • Timothy Ferree Clawson, 27, was charged Wednesday at the Rowan County Detention Center with cyberstalking.
  • Megan Danielle Lafferty, 20, was charged Wednesday at the intersection of West Innes Street and South West Street with possession of alcohol under the age of 21.
