Sharing Yadkin Mill Village memories
The 8th Yadkin Mill Village Reunion was held Sept. 27 at the Yadkin Baptist Church fellowship building with about 35 present. Pastor Gary Hauze was the special guest with good news to share about plans for a museum across the street from Yadkin United Church. The news that Yadkin may come back to life again was welcome for the people who have prayed for this, where so many grew up and had wonderful memories of the place they called home. Everyone enjoyed the food and talking about special memories.
Gifts were given to those who had traveled the farthest, Trudy Parker Hassenplug and husband Bill.
The oldest female present was Irene Parker Clark and the oldest male was Ernest Lanning.
Any artifacts or anything from the past pertaining to Yadkin memories would be helpful. Call Gary Hauze at 704-638-0871. Plans are already in progress for the next reunion in 2015.
100th birthday: Pauline Garver Brady
Mrs. Pauline Garver Brady will be 100 years young on Oct. 27, 2014. She is celebrating her birthday today at her home church, Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church, China Grove.
Her sons, Allen, James and Verne and their wives are hosting a special birthday dinner in the church fellowship hall with more than 100 invited guests. Mrs. Brady is currently a resident at Carillon Assisted Living in Salisbury, where she continues to enjoy arts, crafts, reading and fellowshipping with residents and staff.

The Rowan Redbuds
The Rowan Redbuds Garden Club met Thursday, Oct. 23, at the Rowan Public Library. President Anganetta Dover presided. Scott Anderson from Raleigh gave a program about the North Carolina Birding Trail.

Salisbury Antiques Show dates
The 61st Annual Salisbury Antiques Show will be Nov. 7 and 8 at the Salisbury Civic Center, 315 S. Martin Luther King, Jr. Ave. The show, considered the longest-running annual antiques show in the state (since 1953) benefits the museum and its historic sites.
