SALISBURY — The Salisbury Police Department has arrested a juvenile in connection to last Sunday morning’s homicide that occurred in the 1800 block of 3rd Street.

According to information from the Salisbury PD public information officer, Major Justin Crews, on Thursday at approximately 8:30 p.m., the department’s criminal investigation division, along with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, arrested the juvenile, charging them with murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle.

The juvenile was reportedly transported to a secure juvenile detention center. The investigation remains ongoing and no further details are currently available.

“The Salisbury Police Department would like to thank the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations and all of the community members who have come forward with information about the incident,” Crews said in a press release.

The two victims, Shamarion Hooker, 20, and Skylar Mackey, 21, were pronounced dead on Sunday after police and emergency crews arrived at the scene. The car the two had been traveling in had run off the roadway into a batch of heavy trees and brush.

Circumstances leading up to the shooting were not known at the time, according to a release, but officers were able to determine one male subject fled from the shooting after the incident.
