Man robbed at gunpoint while fishing

RICHFIELD — An Albemarle man was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday while fishing under a Richfield bridge.
According to a Rowan County Sheriff’s Office report, Adam Xiong was fishing under a bridge at about 2:50 p.m. near the 17100 block of Stokes Ferry Road when two men approached him.
Xiong told authorities one of the men asked him if he needed a ride. The man then pulled out a handgun and demanded Xiong’s wallet and car keys.
The two men drove away in Xiong’s 2004 black Acura TSX. The license plate is YZH7569.
Xiong described the man with the gun, according to the report, as a 25- to 30-year-old white male, 5-foot-4 and 150 to 160 pounds. The man was wearing a T-shirt and shorts. The other is described as a 6-foot white male between 180 to 190 pounds. He was wearing jeans and a T-shirt.
The men were reported as driving away in the direction of U.S. Hwy 49.
The Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
