Police: Burglar takes mail bag, checks from bread store

Salisbury Police say someone broke into Flowers Bakery Thrift Store and took a mail bag containing checks and other papers. The store is located at 1405 North Main Street. The theft occurred sometime Friday and was reported the same day.
The mail bag contained two employees’ checks and other store papers. The papers were strewn about the store, but the checks were gone, a report said.
It appeared someone forced their way into the store. Police continue to investigate.

• A woman reported Sunday an assault occurred sometime between Friday and Sunday in the 700 block of North Main Street.
• Gerry Wood Auto Group reported a break-in in the 400 block of South Jake Alexander Boulevard.
• A woman reported Sunday an attempted burglary occurred sometime between Thursday morning and Sunday night in the 300 block of Crown Point Drive.
• A woman reported Sunday a burglary occurred sometime between Friday afternoon and Sunday night in the 300 block of Crown Point Drive.
• Joshua Wade Dixon, 31, was charged with misdemeanor simple assault at the Rowan County Magistrate’s Office.
