Alumni basketball tournament coming

The Run It Down Alumni Basketball Tournament is planned for the North Rowan gym on July 25-27.
Teams will represent North Rowan, Salisbury, South Rowan, Carson, West Rowan, A.L. Brown, Davie and Lexington.
Admission will be $5. Kids under 7 will be admitted free.

eGolf Tour
Jack Fields of Southern Pines is 56-under par over his last 11 rounds on tour and has shot 65-64-66 — 195 (18-under) to lead the eGolf Tour’s Southern Open at The Club at Irish Creek after three rounds.
Fields began Friday’s third round in a tie for second.
Salisbury’s Frank Adams III has shot 67-70-70 — 207 and is 6-under.
The Chicago White Sox have reached a deal with N.C. State left-hander Carlos Rodon, 21, on a minor league contract that includes a signing bonus of $6,582,000.
The deal with Rodon, the No. 3 pick in the draft, was announced on Friday. It is well above his slot value of $5,721,500 and more than the $6 million bonus Miami gave the No. 2 selection, high school pitcher Tyler Kolek.
The Asheville Tourists rolled to an 11-1 win against the Kannapolis Intimidators on Friday at CMC-NorthEast Stadium.
Rockies prospect David Dahl had four hits and three RBIs for the Tourists.
• Corey Seager (NW Cabarrus) had a double and two RBIs on Friday and hit his 18th homer on Thursday. Seager is batting .352 with 68 RBIs.
• Jordan Jankowski (Catawba) had won his last two starts for Double-A Corpus Christi and is 3-3 with a 3.57 ERA.

Catawba conducted a successful youth football camp on Friday with about 100 participants.

East Spencer is holding a free basketball clinic at Royal Giants Park Wednesday and Thursday, including free breakfast and lunch.
The clinic will be conducted by North Rowan coach Andrew Mitchell and staff. The camp includes fundamental skills, such as footwork, passing, ballhandling and shooting as well as competitive games. The clinic starts at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 12:30 p.m.
The Salisbury Parks and Recreation is still accepting teams for its coed adult softball league.

The Rowan County Youth Football League announced registration for this season.
The RCYFL, in its 27th year, has tentatively set registration to begin Saturday, Aug. 30 and run through Saturday, Sept. 6.
Registration sites and additional information will be forthcoming on the leagues website at http://www.rcyfl.org/.
All elementary and 6th grade students (football and cheer)in the (3rd-4th) and (5th-6th) age levels are encouraged to attend. Registration includes complete uniforms for both football and cheerleading.
RCYFL provides insurance for all participants. The full contact league will play games on Saturdays/Sundays at local high school/middle school fields.
Online registration will begin this month.
The RCYFL is a member of the American Youth Football Organization (AYF). The league is a registered non-profit and is looking for team sponsorships.
Upward Flag football and cheerleading sign-ups and evaluations will be held on Saturday, July 12, at 9-11 and Sunday, July 13 from 2-4 p.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 200 Clearview Rd. Cleveland.
