CHINA GROVE — Cabarrus Family Medicine, part of Carolinas HealthCare System, will open a new office at 2090 N.C. Highway 29 South in China Grove.
Dr. Katie Notaro will begin seeing patients Monday. She is a graduate of the Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine on the campus of Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, Va.
Office hours for the China Grove office are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and 8 a.m. to noon on Wednesday.
Cabarrus Family Medicine also offers care from physician assistants and nurse practitioners, trained health-care professionals who work closely with physicians to provide individualized care throughout a patient’s lifetime.
Cabarrus Family Medicine now has offices in eight cities: Concord, Charlotte, China Grove, Harrisburg, Kannapolis, Locust, Mount Pleasant and Spencer. It also provides mental health services, plus sports medicine at its Sports Medicine and Injury Center in Concord.

Graves new commercial lines team leader at Central Carolina Insurance
Jennifer Graves has recently been promoted to commercial lines team leader at Central Carolina Insurance Agency.
She will lead in coordinating work loads, training, productivity and company relations.
“Jennifer has been a key to our success in the commercial lines market place. We know she will be even more valuable as she leads our Commercial Lines Department,” said President Jay Whittington.
Graves received her P&C Insurance License in 1999 and worked in Texas as a transportation insurance specialist before moving to North Carolina. She is currently working on her CISR designation.
She is active at Salem Lutheran Church as chair of the Altar Guild.
Code enforcement officer to speak at real estate investment meeting
Michael Drye, field supervisor for the Rowan County Building Code Enforcement Department, will speak at the Rowan Real Estate Investors and Associates meeting Tuesday, Aug. 28.

Salisbury executive among Bridge Program graduates
TAMPA, Fla. — AACSB International recently graduated a group of Southern business executives from the AACSB Bridge Program, including J. Richard Browne, a Salisbury business executive.
Browne, a principal strategy consultant at www.mymarketingadvisor.com, is currently lecturing on international business at the Ralph W. Ketner School of Business at Catawba College.
The AACSB Bridge Program, hosted by Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business, is a five-day program that provides the skills, training and guidance necessary to reduce faculty shortages at AACSB accredited business schools. The program increases the pool of professors with relevant business experience.
Applicants must be participating in their field with five to seven years of industry experience and no more than two years full-time teaching experience.
Since its inception in 2006, hundreds of executives have completed the program.
Many of these executives now serve as valued faculty members at business schools throughout the world.
Group seeks funds for Women in Transition House
SALISBURY — D’vine Concepts A-Z Inc., a nonprofit organization in Rowan County, needs businesses to sponsor a transitional home for women.
The group is raising money to operate the Women in Transition House to reduce recidivism and help women find employment while improving quality of life for them and their children.
D’vine Concepts A-Z will hold the Pumps with Power event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Salisbury Women’s Club, 1237 Old West Innes St. Businesses are invited to rent a booth for $20, which is tax deductible.
D’vine Concepts A-Z has pledged to raise $50,000 toward operational costs, a down payment on the house and programming.

Andress is PNC Bank’s new regional president for Western NC
CHARLOTTE — PNC Bank has named Weston Andress as its first regional president for Western Carolina, effective Sept. 24.
PNC’s governmental clients include Rowan County, the city of Salisbury and the town of China Grove. The bank also serves a host of private businesses and individuals in the local area.
“Weston brings a deep knowledge and understanding of banking in the Charlotte region,” said Peter Classen, executive vice president and head of PNC’s office of regional presidents. “This is an important region for PNC with great opportunities for continued growth as we invest in the community and help consumers and businesses achieve their financial goals.”

Mooresville gym to host men’s state championships in 2013
MOORESVILLE — At the N.C. Men’s State Clinic and Annual State Meeting held in Raleigh on Aug. 18, Cory Wooten received the news: Flying High Gymnastics has been selected to host the North Carolina Men’s Gymnastics State Competition in 2013.
Nearly 300 competitors from across the state will travel to Mooresville on March 9-10 to vie for titles, medals and the opportunity to advance with a spot on the team that represents the state in regional competition.
“This is a great honor. Flying High is entering our third year and we knew we wanted to host a meet. I entered into the bidding process after many discussions with employees of the town of Mooresville and the Mooresville Convention and Visitors Bureau,” Wooten said. “I am thrilled that we will host the state meet this year.”

Richfield’s Modular Homes in on ‘House United’ project
RICHFIELD — Modular Homes of North Carolina in Richfield will construct half a home as part of the Craftsman “House United” project, a bipartisan effort to build a home to be presented to a deserving military veteran.
Salisbury-based Carolina Building Solutions provided the home. Half of the home will go to the Republican National Convention in Tampa and half will go to the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte.
Modular Homes of North Carolina’s work will begin Sept. 2 in Charlotte, when an on-site crew will transport the unit to a staging area where they plan to block and level the home, raise the roof and build stairs.
The main event on Labor Day will be held in conjunction with CarolinaFest, a free, family-friendly celebration held in Uptown Charlotte. For eight hours, Modular Homes of North Carolina staff and crew will return to work alongside popular television personality and former star of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” Ty Pennington coaching delegates and elected officials as they saw, swing hammers and paint walls.
Once the two halves of the house are completed, Modular Homes of North Carolina’s set-up crew will permanently unite them in the Belmont neighborhood before the house is given to a veteran, yet to be identified.
