Sasquatch Knife Shop opening soon in downtown Salisbury

SALISBURY — USA Made Blade, an online store specializing in American-made knives, just announced the grand opening of Sasquatch Knife Shop in downtown Salisbury.

The store is located at 320 N. Main Street and the grand opening will take place on Saturday, April 20, from 1-5 p.m.

Several well-known knife makers will be attending the event.

They include:

  • Rick Hinderer Knives from Shreve, Ohio. Rick Hinderer has been making knives since the 1980s and now Hinderer Knives is one of the most well known, high-end makers in the world. A few of their accomplishments include winning the International BLADE Show 2011 Collaboration of the Year Award with Zero Tolerance 0560/0561, as well as the 2014 American Made Knife of the Year Award with ZT0562CF, and 2018 BLADE Magazine Most Innovative American Design Award for Tri-Way Pivot System.
  • Spartan Blades from Southern Pines. Spartan Blades was founded in 2008. They are a leading outdoor cutlery brand which believes in creating “Knives with Intent” meaning that they are designed to excel in specific tasks and environments. Spartan Blades has won many awards as well including the 2010 International BLADE Show “Knife Collaboration of the Year” with William W. Harsey Jr., the 2014 International BLADE Show “Most Innovative American Design”, the “Knife Collaboration of the Year” award at the 2014 International BLADE Show for the V-14 Dagger with Les George, and the Manufacturing Quality Award at the 2023 International BLADE Show.
  • Nicholas Nichols Knives from Wilmington. Nic is a member of the N.C. Custom Knifemaker’s Guild and was a contestant on Season 7 of Forged in Fire. His Battleship Teak Large Chef’s Knife won the 2020 Made in NC Award for Our State Magazine.
  • McNees Knives is veteran owned from Vernon, Alabama. Jonathan McNees started making knives in 2008, and his family run company now produces hundreds of semi-custom machined and hand-finished knives every year. Their knives are made to be passed down from one generation to the next.
  • Shady Grady Knives from Wilmington is a retired professional firefighter who specializes in making knives for the working man. He uses top-quality materials and components.
  • TM Hunt Custom Knives from Seymour, Indiana. Owner Todd Hunt comes from a family of knife makers. He is famously known for some of the best heat-treated steel in the industry and for making bushcraft/camping style knives that are comfortable in the hand and perform in the field.

Sasquatch Knife Shop will be open Wednesdays through Saturdays, from noon until 5 p.m., and will carry a wide selection of American-made knives including Les George Knives, Chris Reeve Knives, Koenig Knives and Benchmade. 

USA Made Blade will continue to offer its online store with same day shipping as well as its Thursday night live Instagram show at 10 p.m.

Both stores share the same mission, which is to support knife makers from the United States.
