SALISBURY — A man suing several county agencies after being acquitted of child abuse charges last year has now been formally charged with choking his son.
A grand jury indicted David Lore on a felony assault by strangulation charge. The arrest stemmed from a 2009 incident in which Lore was accused of grabbing son Edward Lore III around the neck, cutting off his airway.
Lore was given a $50,000 bond, according to Thursday’s arrest report.
Authorities took the 38-year-old into custody about 5:30 p.m. at his business, Pet Place on South Main Street. He was not listed as an inmate on the jail’s website Friday afternoon.
Lore and his wife, Angela Lore, were acquitted last fall of multiple counts of child abuse and animal cruelty after authorities said they found their children living in squalid conditions at their Rockwell Road home.
The Lores filed a federal lawsuit against several Rowan County officials last month citing civil rights violations during the investigation.
