A Salisbury man known as “the meat man” has been charged again with taking meat from Walmart, just four months after taking meat from the same store.
The Salisbury Police charged Anthony Todd Bailey, 53, with habitual larceny, second-degree trespass, misdemeanor larceny and failure to appear/comply. He remains in the Rowan County jail under a $9,500 secured bond.
Bailey was nicknamed “the meat man” by Walmart loss prevention officers because of his numerous thefts from the store. Each time Bailey walks into the store goes to the meat department, puts the items inside his own bag and walks out with various types of meat.
This most recent incident occurred May 31 when Bailey got a shopping cart, picked up several packages of meat, put them into a bag he took from his back pocket and placed the items inside. Bailey then walked out of the store with the items.
Bailey has a conviction record that dates to 1987 that includes robbery, multiple larcenies, assault on an officer, breaking and entering, receiving stolen goods, several trespassing charges and shoplifting offenses.
