The A.L. Brown boys basketball team defeated Cox Mill 65-47 Friday night behind 13 points from Tydus Parks. Braxton Waddell and Tevin Stark added 12 points each for the Wonders in the winning effort.
Cox Mill’s Aqiyl Mustafa led all scorers with 17 points in the SPC game.

Eighth-grade hoops
Knox’s girls rolled 36-11 against West Rowan Middle.
Niah Spratt scored 12 points for the Trojans. Kiilantra Mashore had 10 points, and Tyzarea Alexander and Chevy Blaire scored six each.
• Knox’s boys edged the Bulldogs 52-51. Both teams have 7-4 records.
Shaleek Williams scored 16 for the Trojans. Paris Hillie had 13, and Alonzo Sirleaf scored 12.
Armoni Hogue had 18 points and eight rebounds for the Bulldogs. Jovon Quarles had 13 points and six rebounds. Kortez Weeks added 10 points, and Rodney Howell pulled down five boards.

East Rowan camps
East Rowan baseball coach Brian Hightower is holding three upcoming camps.
Hitting camp is on Jan. 12 from 1-4 and costs $30.
Fielding and catching camp is on Jan. 19 from 1-3 and costs $20.
Pitching camp is from 1-3 on Jan. 26 and costs $20.
Attend all three camps for $65.
The camps will be held at Staton Field, weather permitting. Alternate locations are the East Rowan and Erwin gyms.
Players can pay the day of the camp. They can register online using the winter camp registration form on the East Rowan Mustang Baseball website.

Hurley YMCA hoops
The Hurley YMCA is taking boys basketball registrations for ages 7-14 until Saturday.

Parks and Rec
Salisbury Parks and Recreation is accepting registrations at Hall Gym for youth basketball leagues for boys and girls ages 5-6 and girls ages 7-15 through Jan. 12.
Cost is $35. Practice starts at the end of January. Games start in February.

Umpire clinic
The National Softball Association will hold an umpire clinic at the Salisbury Civic Center on Sunday, Jan. 20, for slow-pitch officials.
Registration is at 10 a.m., and the clinic lasts until 2 p.m. The fee is $56. Those interested in umpiring in NSA leagues or tournament play should plan on attending. Rules and new mechanics will be taught by Eastern Zone umpire-in-chief Mike Snyder.
