SHS soccer wins vs. South

Goals by Lucas Capito, Clint Comadoll, Emmy Turcios and Philip Simons lifted Salisbury to a 4-0 boys soccer win against South Rowan on Wednesday.
Zachary Sukkasem had two assists for the Hornets, while Simons and Turcios had one each.
Capito’s goal opened the scoring in the first two minutes.
“But it was only 1-0 at halftime,” Salisbury coach Matt Parrish said. “You can tell how much work South put in over the summer. They’re playing a lot more cohesive and a lot more confident than they were a year ago. They’ve improved a tremendous amount in 365 days.”
Salisbury’s jayvees won 3-0 over South.
• Gray Stone got goals from Brandon Fortin and Sean Lavook and tied Community School of Davidson.
Carson won 9-0 against Central Cabarrus in SPC tennis.
Laura Isenhour, Sara Lentz, Addie Gantt, Erika Meadows, Kate Cole and Mackenzie Menius were singles winners for the Cougars.
Isenhour-Lentz, Meadows-Cole and Gantt-Menius were the winning doubles teams.
• South Rowan lost 5-4 to Central Davidson in non-conference tennis.
Sidnie Starnes and Cierra Hunter were singles winners for South. Doubles winners were Starnes-Mariah Mason and Hunter-Marissa Sides.
The Curtis Walker Show devoted to Catawba football can be heard on Memories 1280 WSAT on Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. and will be broadcast from D.J.’s Restaurant, a few blocks from the Catawba campus.
The first show is tonight. Coach Walker will talk about the roster and about Saturday’s home game.
WSAT 1280 will again broadcast Catawba’s games.
Carson won 3-1 against North Iredell on Wednesday to stay undefeated.
• Lincoln Charter topped Christ the King 23-25, 25-12, 25-13 and 21-19.
The North Rowan High Booster Club will meet on Monday, Sept. 9, at 6 p.m. in the school auditorium. New members are welcome and are encouraged to attend.
In the eGolf Tour’s River Landing Open, Will Collins shot 4-under 68 and is tied for 12th after the first round. Frank Adams III shot 69 and is tied for 18th.
Salisbury Academy battled to a 2-2 tie with Concordia.
Mitch Jeter scored both goals for the Jaguars. Adam Drye led the defense. Emily Mann and Drew Shelby played well in goal.

• Salisbury Academy’s varsity volleyball team won 27-25 and 25-17 against Concordia.
Maria Capito servedl well. Anna Louise Lewis closed the match with an ace. Ivy Overcash led the defense and also led in kills.
Andrea Davis coaches the Jaguars.
•In jayvee volleyball, Salisbury Academy won 27-25 and 25-18.
Britty Ervin served for 12 points, and Emily Cipolla served for 10.
