Local pair face charges for violating stay-at-home order

SALISBURY — A local man and woman face misdemeanor charges for failing to heed the governor’s stay-at-home order.
Rowan County sheriff’s deputies were alerted to the two after someone reported a vehicle was stuck in the mud behind a business.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office charged Margie Joann Seawell, 41, of the 3100 block of River Road, Richfield, and Roger Lindberg Booth II, 46, of the 5200 block of Noble Drive, Concord, with misdemeanor failure to stay home.
Seawell also faces charges of driving while license revoked and having a fictitious tag/license plate.
Shortly after 8 a.m. on Monday, deputies arrived at Keith’s Auto Sales, 4420 West N.C. 152, to find a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu stuck in the mud up to the axles.
The two said they had been stuck in the mud since Sunday night and gave deputies three different stories as to why they were there. None of their information made sense, said Rowan Sheriff’s Capt. John Sifford.
The vehicle was determined to have an invalid tag. Seawell said she was the driver, but her driver’s license was revoked. The vehicle was towed from the scene and the two were charged.
