SALISBURY — A Salisbury man remains in the Rowan County jail after he was charged Friday with cocaine possession, according to the Salisbury Police Department.

Timothy Lamont Coan, 42, of the 100 block of Cedar Drive, Apt. A, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance schedule two. He remains in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $500 secured bond.

An officer saw a vehicle weaving in and out of traffic in the 600 block of West Innes Street, according to police. The officer stopped the vehicle after he believed the driver was impaired, said police spokesman Lt. Greg Beam.

The driver seemed nervous, the officer said in his report. The officer asked the driver had any illegal substances in the vehicle. According to the report, Coan turned over a pill bottle that contained a powdered substance that field tested positive for cocaine.
