On the eve of Dec. 22, the piano students of Deanna Smith and Jan Sywenki, with the help of a few friends, former students and family, presented a concert titled “Christmas Piano Extravaganza.” The program was held at Trinity Wesleyan Church on Moorseville Road.

This program was not your ordinary piano recital. The platform was filled with four keyboards/pianos. The concert consisted of 20 song selections, with each being performed by 4 to 8 participants. The selections were made up of classic Christmas carols and favorite tunes of the season.

Deanna Smith welcomed everyone to the annual event and then the evening began. There was much bustle as each of the performers found their places for the upcoming selection. The audience was entertained with a narrative of each song, detailing its history, while performers transitioned. The evening ended with a visit from dancing Snoopy and a rousing rendition of Sleigh Ride was performed by Laura, Myers, Deanna Smith, and Jan Sywenki,

Performers included: The students of Deanna Smith; Caleb Baker, David Beaver, Debbie Beaver, Jessica Beaver, Davis Brown, Eli Dempsey, Ethan Dempsey, Caleb Edenburn, Rachel Emerson, Samantha Emerson, Keith Goins, Lara Parker, Ayla Turney, Koa Turney, Maggie Turney, Daleiah Waters, Piper Waters, Zoey Waters, Emma Weeder and Lucas Weeder;

The students of Jan Sywenki; Caleigh Morgan, Jude Smeltzer, Stella Smeltzer, Hannah Waddell, Sanaa Watkins, Jaeden Watkins, Wade Watkins, Kyna Zaldivar, and former students Emily Morgan and Meredith Stanley.

The evening was made complete with the aid of Laura Myers, Beth Schnyder, Claire Schnyder, Madeline Schnyder, and Joel Smeltzer (narrator).
