Election 2009: Palmer hoping to serve citizens of Spencer

SPENCER ó Jon E. Palmer has filed to run for mayor of Spencer.
Palmer, 38, of 310 S. Carolina Ave., is a self-employed architect with JP&A Architect.
He is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design where he earned bachelor of fine arts and bachelor of architecture degrees.
Palmer noted that his family, home and business are all in Spencer. He’s a member of the Spencer Planning Board, the Spencer Historic Preservation Commission and Spencer Partnership Inc.
Palmer has served part of a term on the Spencer Board of Aldermen when he was appointed to fill an unexpired term.
Palmer stated as his reason for running for mayor: “To provide an alternative to the status quo.”
He said his priorities include strategic planning and goals; town growth and image; neighborhood revitalization and downtown development; town services and citizen responsibility through curbside garbage pick up and mandatory recycling programs.
Palmer and his wife, Cara Reische, have a 4-year-old daughter, Camille.
Palmer is running against incumbent mayor Jody Everhart.
