West Rowan’s soccer team shut out East Rowan 5-0 Monday. It was West’s third shutout in its last four games.
The Falcons’ defense was anchored by Autumn Foster and Allison Bailey in goal and also featured Allison Parker, Courtney Christy, Mary McCachren and Janna Coleman.
Allison Baucom had a hat trick for West (4-2). Nicole Lucente and Brittany Gibbons had a goal each. Gibbons had two assists.
West plays Lake Norman Wednesday.
– NPC tennis
East Rowan topped West Iredell 6-3 for its first victory Monday.
West Rowan stayed unbeaten with a 9-0 romp over North Iredell.
– Baseball
Mars Hill freshman Alex Britt (Salisbury) was named SAC Pitcher of the Week. He had a win against Catawba and pitched a complete- game victory against Newberry.
* West Davidson lost to East Forsyth 10-7 Monday despite a home run and four RBIs by Zach Burkhart.
* West Rowan will play a jayvee-varsity doubleheader against Statesville at home on Wednesday. The varsity game should start about 7 p.m.
– South Legion coaching change
David Wright has stepped down as coach of the South Rowan American Legion team. He has been replaced by Michael Lowman.

– Jayvee softball
Kristy Rounds had a double and a triple as West Rowan beat North Iredell 5-3. Jessica Snider was the winning pitcher. Spencer Nance, Katelyn Brandt, Jessica Myers and Heather Foster scored runs for West (1-2).
– Two-Man Mulligan
The team of Steve Harwell-Jeff Tomlin shot back-to-back 61s and won the Championship Flight of the Warrior Two-Man Mulligan golf tournament.
Harwell and Tomlin’s 122 nipped Keith Dorsett-Michael Dorsett (63-60) and Jason Meadows-Benji McCall (61-62) by one shot.
Chris Owen-Ken Clarke shot 63-62 ó 125 for fourth. Others in the Championship Flight were Bobby Isenhour-Anthony Baker (62-64 ó 126), Chris Smith-Jerry Wright (63-64 ó 127), Gerald Staton-Mallory McDaniel (64-63 ó 127) and Phil Miller-Andrew Morgan (64-68 ó 132).
Corey Basinger-Steven Harvey shot 65-64 ó 129 and won the First Flight title by a stroke over Brad Fink-Keith Knight (66-64 ó 130).
In the Second Flight, David Dorsett-Steve Gegorek won at 132. Larry Neill-Mark Beaver and Ken McGee-Steve Vail also shot 132.
The Third Flight was won by Jimmy Christy-Earl Christy with a 136. Terry Watts-Ed Hinshaw also shot 136.
The Fourth Flight winner was Gene Mothershead-Aaron Mothershead at 138. Kyle Wright-Bruce Stolsworth won the Fifth Flight with a 139. Jack Kramer-Sean Kramer won the Sixth Flight at 134. Neil Shouse-Charlie Fisher won the Seventh Flight with 149.
– GARS outing
Seventy GARS members played at Warrior Golf Club Monday. Low ‘A’ Flight player was Clayton Steele with a net of 60.35. Low ‘B’ Flight player was Nelson Earnhardt with a net of 58.17. Low ‘C’ player was Bill Bradley with a net of 59.81. Low ‘D’ player with a net of 63.89 was Kenneth Miller.
Bradley shot his age. Steele shot three strokes under his age.
– 7th-grade hoops tournament
Erwin’s top-seeded girls downed Southeast 36-19 behind Karleigh Wike’s triple-double.
Wike had 11 points, 12 blocked shots and 15 rebounds for the Eagles (14-0). Josie McNeely had 11 points and 11 boards. Lauren Thomas scored six points. Kendall Brown grabbed seven rebounds, and Katie Kepley had four steals.
No. 4 seed Southeast (8-6) was paced by Alexis Kemp with eight points. Laura Vaughn and Quanice Miller led the Patriots’ rebounding. Southeast trailed 19-11 at halftime.
* No. 2 seed Knox (12-2) beat No. 3 China Grove 46-30. Brielle Blaire and Ladina Rushing had 11 points apiece, with Rushing hitting three 3-pointers. Monifa Angle scored 10 points, and Nyasia Harris added nine. Knox led 24-17 at halftime.
China Grove (9-7) was led by Madison Weast and Katie Barringer with eight points each. Katie Cole had seven points, while Lynsey Corriher had five.
Erwin and Knox meet at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in the championship game.
