East Rowan senior Karleigh Wike has been honored as the SPC Player of the Year for girls basketball.
The 6-foot-4 Wike, who signed with Richmond, set school records for rebounding and blocked shots and was a 1,000-point scorer.
East’s Danielle Porter was named SPC Coach of the Year. Porter guided the Mustangs to a 22-4 record and the regular-season and tournament championships.
East went 15-1 in the SPC.
East had not won a regular-season crown since 2004 and hadn’t won a conference tournament since 1999.
East’s Kelli Fisher, South Rowan’s Avery Locklear and Cassidy Chipman, Carson’s Alex Allen and West Rowan’s Khaila Hall made All-SPC.
Fisher, Locklear, Chipman and Allen are juniors, while Hall is a sophomore.
Cabarrus members of the All-SPC team are Hickory Ridge’s Kiana Davis and Zharia Brown, Central Cabarrus’ Mahaley Holit, Cox Mill’s Taylor Sehm-Crowley, Concord’s Jada Black and Northwest Cabarrus’ Shatiya Bost.
• Concord’s Connor Burchfield was named SPC Player of the Year for boys basketball, while Concord’s George Walker was named SPC Coach of the Year after leading the Spiders to a 16-0 league mark in the regular season.
Rowan players on the All-SPC team are Carson’s Colton Laws and Tre Williams, West Rowan’s Celexus Long and South Rowan’s Qwan Rhyne.
Cabarrus players on All-SPC are Concord’s Ty-Shon Alexander, Cox Mill’s Chandler Probert and Matt Morgan, Hickory Ridge’s Nick Hough and Avery Metcalf, Central Cabarrus’ Lavon Hightower and Northwest Cabarrus’ Alston Davis.

Prep wrestling
East Rowan’s Wyatt Blume, Shiheem Saunders and Luke Miller, Carson’s Brandon Sloop, Anthony McCurry and Alex Lyles, and South Rowan’s Logan Durham, Tyler Hall, Isaac Hengel and Angel Ruiz made the All-SPC wrestling team.
Hickory Ridge’s Troy Gregor was named wrestler of the year, while Hickory Ridge’s Patrick Helm was named coach of the year.

Prep swimming
South Rowan’s Stetson Johnson, East Rowan’s Jason Troutman and Charles Goff and Carson’s John Patella and Ryan Turney made the All-SPC boys swim team.
South’s Leslie Franks, Nicole Mauldin and Faith Casswell made the All-SPC girls swim team.
Concord’s Ray Morgan was named coach of the year. Swimmers of the year were Concord’s Justus Cochran and Cox Mill’s Madison Holland.

South Rowan won 11-7 in nine innings at Concord on Tuesday to stay unbeaten in the SPC. It was a wild one. South (3-0) trailed 3-0 after an inning but fought back to take a 5-3 lead.
“We got hit in the mouth early, but then we battled,” South coach Thad Chrismon said. “We pitched it by committee and we found a way.”
Concord scored twice in the seventh, and South had to get out of a jam just to get to extra innings.
“They had the winning run at second with no outs,” Chrismon said. “Chase Labbe made some good pitches.”
South finally won the game with a six-run ninth. Concord got two back in the bottom of the ninth.
Labbe was the winning pitcher. Austin Corriher started and was strong for five innings after allowing an early homer to Chance Clark.
Chandler Corriher had three hits and two RBIs. Labbe had a two-run single and a two-run double. Hunter Travis had two hits.

• Davie County lost to Lake Norman 7-4 on Tuesday in a non-conference game.
Ross Hoffner went 2-for-2 for the War Eagles. Hoffner, Luke Martin and Jacob Barnhardt drove in runs.
Tristan Comer pitched the first four innings for Davie.
• West Rowan-Northwest was postponed Tuesday. The teams will play the SPC game at Northwest Cabarrus this afternoon at 4:30 p.m.
• Salisbury was postponed Tuesday and will make up a game with North Forsyth Saturday afternoon.
Catherine Whitley’s three-run homer was the biggest blow in West Rowan’s 6-5 SPC softball win against visiting South Rowan (1-1) on Tuesday.
Taylor Martin had a key hit in the sixth as the Falcons (2-0) broke a 5-all tie.
West pitchers Peyton Greene and Leah McCoy combined for 10 strikeouts.
Logan Lowery and Abby Fields had two hits each for South.
• East Rowan (1-2) rolled 10-0 against Concord (0-3) for its first SPC victory.
South Rowan lost 2-1 to Northwest Cabarrus in SPC soccer action on Tuesday.
Wendy Fabella scored for the Raiders. South is at A.L. Brown on Thursday.
Salisbury is ranked third in the state in 2A. Salisbury is at East Rowan today.
Catawba’s Carley Tysinger repeated as SAC Pitcher of the Week. Tysinger was 4-0 with 48 strikeouts. She allowed one earned run in 26 2/3 innings and helped Catawba go 6-1.
GRU Augusta’s Keshun Sherrill (West Rowan) has been named Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Year. Sherrill has started 23 of 28 games and averages 11.4 points for the Jaguars.
Augusta’s K.J. Sherrill (West) made the All-Peach Belt Conference first team. Sherrill shoots 58.3 percent and leads the team in scoring (13.5 ppg), rebounding and blocked shots.
• Pfeiffer freshman Mike Smith and sophomore Al Clark were named All-Carolina Conference third team.
Catawba’s tennis teams lost to Wingate by 9-0 scores on Tuesday in Monroe.
Limestone won the Richard Rendleman Invitational at the Country Club of Salisbury. The Saints topped UNC Pembroke in a playoff.
Wingate’s Ben Gebhardt shot even-par in the event and won a playoff with Queen’s Alex Ware for medalist honors.
Catawba placed 14th. Tyler Rutherford shot 76-77 — 153, finished 21st and led Catawba golfers.
• UNC Greensboro’s Roy Dixon (Salisbury) shot a final-round 71 and finished at 7-under 209 in the three-day USF Invitational. Dixon shot a school-record tying 63 in the opening round. UNC Greensboro finished third
Radford ended the season with a 43-42 first-round loss to UNC Asheville in the Big South tournament on Tuesday. Ayana Avery (West Rowan) scored 11 points and made three 3-pointers. She finished the season with 95 3-pointers.
• Catawba plays at Carson-Newman tonight at 6 in the first round of the SAC tourney.

Erwin’s boys won 46-30 against Southeast.
Christian Bennett led the Eagles with 17 points. Gabe Hinceman had 13. Hunter Eagle had 12 rebounds and five points.
Tyler Thompson scored eight points for the Patriots.
Erwin (8-3) plays Mooresville on Thursday.
The FCCA Green Dragons won two regional matches against the Carolina Rapids.
Ben Childress scored four goals for the Dragons (17-7-2). Maddox Goodnight scored two goals. Colin Donaldson, Ben Sweet, Bennett Clark, Wade Robins and Oscar Enciso scored a goal each. Hank Webb and Will Webb led the defense.
