SALISBURY – Patricia Ann Maus, of 308 Richmond Road, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007, at her home.

Patricia was a published author and illustrator of children’s literature and books. At the time of her death, she had two more children’s books involving a mouse and snowman in progress. She divided her time between Salisbury and New York.

Ms. Maus graduated with honors from Lenoir-Rhyne College in Hickory. While attending there, she was elected May Queen her senior year by the student body and was elected by the student body as “Best All-Around Senior Girl.” She was also voted Miss Lenoir-Rhyne her junior year and was voted Student Government representative all four years.

Patricia was head majorette all four years, was president of Sphinx Sorority and was listed in “Who’s Who Among Colleges and Universities.” She also attended graduate school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Patricia was a member of The Country Club of Salisbury and The Republican Senatorial Inner Circle in Washington, D.C. She attended First Baptist Church.

She enjoyed studying colonial architecture, oil painting, antiques, creative writing and traveling.

Ms. Maus was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Paul Maus. She is survived by daughters Laura and Anne of Salisbury.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007, in Hickory. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery.

Her daughters request that donations be made to the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, the Mount Vernon Organization or Monticello.
