Wayne Funderburk

Ben Wayne Funderburk, 71, 502 Villa St., died sunday (Jan. 14, 2007) at his home after three years of declining health and a serious illness of three weeks.

Born Sept. 11, 1935, in Union County, Mr. Funderburk was a son of the late Ben William and Alma Presson Funderburk.

A graduate of A.L. Brown High School, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956 to 1959.

He retired from Fieldcrest Cannon, after 391/2 years in the Dye & Fabric Print Department.

He was a Methodist and member and past master of the former Southgate Masonic Lodge and later Allen-Graham Lodge 695. He also was a member of Cabarrus Shrine Club and Oasis Temple.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Shirley Purser Funderburk; daughter Deneen Sellers, Kannapolis; son Derek Funderburk, Kannapolis; sisters Carrie Ann Barker, Landis, and Perline Hager, Kannapolis; and two grandchildren.

Services: 1 p.m. today (Jan. 17, 2007), Whitley’s Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Jim Yow and the Rev. Darrin Everhart. Entombment, Carolina Memorial Park mausoleum, with Masonic rites by Allen Graham Masonic Lodge 695.

Visitation: At the home on Villa Street.
