Moir Classic begins today

The RoMedical Care Sam Moir Christmas Classic starts today at noon at Catawba’s Goodman Gym.

Six games will be played today, with six more on Thursday and six on Friday, including the championships.

Adult admission is $6 per day. Cost is $3 per day for ages 5-12. Children under 5 are admitted free.

* South jayvee girls beat North

South Rowan’s jayvee girls basketball team defeated North Rowan 45-32. Nikki Graham had 18 points and five steals for South (9-1). Taylor Lookabill scored 12 points.

Graham scored 20 points and had eight steals as the Raiders beat A.L. Brown 40-21. Kayla Morrow had eight points and seven rebounds.

Davie County beat South 58-34. Morrow had 13 points and nine boards. Graham had nine points and six steals.

East Davidson’s girls stayed unbeaten with a 63-47 win over North Davidson in the first round of the Lexington State Bank Tournament. Alyssa Cutshaw scored 25 points for the Golden Eagles. … Former Erwin Middle School standout Howard Hurt scored 20 points to lead North Davidson’s boys to an 80-54 win over East Davidson. … Central Davidson’s boys beat Southeast Guilford.
