Evelyn Long Hunter

MIDWAY – Evelyn Long Hunter, 88, a lifelong resident of the Midway Community, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006.

Mrs. Hunter was born in Davidson County on Aug. 4, 1918, the daughter of the late John Franklin and Estelle Hiatt Long. She was a member of Midway United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class and the Sunshine Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul B. Hunter, five brothers and five sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Lawana H. Ford and husband Larry of Salisbury; son P. Steven Hunter and wife Kathi of Spring Grove, Va.; grandchildren Kim F. Haldopoulos of Peachtree City, Ga., Grant H. Ford of Marietta, Ga., Evan S. Hunter of Winston-Salem and Eric P. Hunter of Chester, Va.; and three great-grandchildren.

Service: Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Midway United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Woods and the Rev. Robin Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 tonight at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, Silas Creek Chapel.
