CONCORD – Colon cancer is one of the top three cancer killers, but it doesn’t garner the same attention as some other cancers. Northeast Digestive Health Center is working to change that by hosting a Highway to Health Car Show, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 16, to raise awareness for people to get screened, diagnosed and treated early for colon cancer.

Now in its fifth year, the free, family-friendly event will feature a car show, kids’ activities, live entertainment, raffle and door prizes, food trucks, silent auction and numerous vendors. The event will be held rain or shine at Northeast Digestive Health Center, located at 1070 Vinehaven Dr. NE in Concord. Proceeds benefit the Colon Cancer Alliance (CCA).

While there is no charge to attend the event, there is a $20 registration fee for car entries. Participants can register their car the day of the event; the first 10 people to enter will receive a free car show T-shirt. Those interested in participating as a vendor can contact Northeast Digestive Health Center for more information.

“Other cancers receive so much attention, yet colon cancer does not. We started Highway to Health because we wanted to host an event that brought our local community together to raise awareness,” said Laura Henry, practice director for Northeast Digestive Health Center. “Whether you’re an auto enthusiast who wants to check out some fantastic cars, or a family just looking for a fun way to spend a Saturday, we invite you to come out and support this important cause.”
