Freeze to speak at China Grove Roller Mill on Sunday

The China Grove Roller Mill is regularly open on Sundays, but this week a guest that’s biked thousands of miles across the United States will speak at the south Rowan historic site.

David Freeze, who has taken two different cross-country bike rides, will speak about his experience and also sell his two books.

Freeze described both bike rides as unique experiences.

“It was a great adventure,” he said. “I have spent the biggest portion of my life running and traveling and I wanted to do something different and a little bigger.”

A news release from the South Rowan Historical Society said Freeze would be at the mill from 2 p.m to 4 p.m. Freeze is scheduled to speak at 2:15 p.m.

Freeze joked that there’s nothing better than seeing the United States at 12 to 15 mph. Though, in steep, hilly areas, he said the speed is closer to 5 mph.

Freeze’s first cross-country bike ride was from Oregon to Myrtle Beach. His second was from Maine to Key West.
