Prep wrestling
West Rowan won 48-30 against North Rowan.
West claimed four forfeits and got victories from Alex Williams (152), Tyler Nichols (182), Oliver Vandenberg (195), Garrett Kennedy (220) and Josh McSwain (285).
Malachi Chambers (106), Cameron Tucker (126), Brandon Myers (132), Dejuan Stevens (138) and Matt Moore (160) were winnersfor the Cavaliers.

Jayvee basketball
Carson’s girls won 35-38 against Davie on Thursday.
Shaleah Jolly led the Cougars with nine points. Katie Jewel had seven, and Tayler Harwood and Montana Gurganious had six apiece.
For Davie, Emma Allen scored seven, and Sierra Foster, Morgan Lewis and Lauren Long had five each.

8th-grade hoops
Maci Cooper scored 14 points as Erwin topped Corriher-Lipe 48-3.
Jaylee Usher had 10 points, and Adalie Harrison scored eight for the Eagles.

Jay Joseph and Tykese Warren led the Bulldogs (2-0) with 10 points each.
Zeb Burns and Mike Molenda had 10 rebounds apiece.
Logan Carter and Nassier Glouse had 7 points each for Corriher-Lipe (0-3).
West Rowan’s next game is Monday against Mooresville.

Prep hoops
Jiera Shears scored 19 points and Stacia Means had 11 as Hickory Ridge’s girls beat Marvin Ridge 59-35 on Thursday.
Hickory Ridge won 62-23 against East Meck on Wednesday,

College hoops
Davidson County Community College’s Tre Williams (Carson) shot 8-for-9 from the field and scored 18 points in a 117-83 win against the Bluefield jayvees. Williams had eight rebounds and six assists.

In a 66-62 loss to Claflin, Keshun Sherrill (West Rowan) scored 18 points.

College volleyball
Catawba junior middle Bri Howard was voted second team All-South Atlantic Conference by the league’s coaches.
Junior hitter Alex Hopper earned honorable mention honors.
Howard stands second in the conference in blocks at 1.13 per set, racking up 87 over her 77 sets. The junior posted 170 kills with a .281 hitting percentage. Hopper led Catawba with 238 kills, posting 2.31 per set. She has added 79 digs and 30 blocks.
Wingate’s Shelly Stumpff was voted SAC Player of the Year, while Carson-Newman’s Natalie Harris was voted Freshman of the Year. In addition, Wingate’s Shelton Collier was tabbed the SAC Coach of the Year.
