High school baseball roundup: West, Carson win SPC games on Tuesday

CONCORD — Corbin Bailey pitched a complete game to lead West Rowan to a 6-1 win at Northwest Cabarrus on Tuesday.

Bailey struck out seven, walked two and scattered five hits. He shut out the Trojans (8-12, 7-7) until the seventh.

West (15-4, 9-4) scored a go-ahead run in the second, added two in the fourth and got three insurance runs in the top of the seventh.

Eli Graham had two hits and two RBIs. Brant Graham had two hits and drove in one.

Maddox Moore, Andrew Helmbold and Drew Burton also had RBIs for the Falcons.

West stayed tied for second with Carson in the South Piedmont Conference standings, but the Cougars own a sweep of the Falcons.

Cooper Greene pitched four innings for NWC and took the loss. Ben Able had two hits and had the Northwest RBI in the seventh.

West is 10th in the 3A West RPI rankings. Northwest is 39th.

LANDIS — Daxton Savage pitched eight innings of shutout ball to lead Carson to a 3-0 win at South Rowan in Tuesday’s SPC game.

Savage struck out 10, walked none and limited the Raiders (9-11, 5-8) to two hits.

Marshal Faw pitched brilliantly for South. Seven Cougars were retired on strikes.

Carson (11-8, 9-4) finally broke through in the eighth. Jayven Parks, Will Bradshaw and Corbin Hales scored for the Cougars in the eighth. Hales and Maverick Walters had RBIs.

Cam Williamson had two hits for the Cougars.

Carson is 21st in the 3A West RPI rankings. South Rowan is 36th. Thirty-two teams will make the playoff bracket.

Robinson is 30th in the 3A West RPI rankings and got past Central Cabarrus 4-3 on Tuesday.
