Walker Joyce had five assists, and Casey Ayala and German Delgado scored two goals each to lead South Rowan to a 9-0 soccer win against North Rowan on Tuesday.
Luis Delgado, Omar Curiel, Alex Figueroa and Lupe Bautista scored one each. Cameron Corriher had the shutout in goal.

Prep volleyball
Carson (4-0) stayed unbeaten with a 25-10, 25-14 and 25-9 SPC win at Central Cabarrus on Tuesday.
South Rowan on its third straight match by beating SPC opponent Northwest Cabarrus on Tuesday.
West Rowan lost 25-17, 25-23 and 25-11 to SPC opponent Robinson on Tuesday. East Rowan lost to defending SPC champ Cox Mill 25-15, 25-12 and 25-12 on Tuesday.

Prep tennis
Davie County won 7-1 against North Rowan on Tuesday.

Little League softball
On Friday, Aug. 28, the Kannapolis Intimidators are hosting a special pregame ceremony to recognize the 2015 Little League World Series softball champions from Rowan Little League.
The team will be available for pictures and autographs from 6-6:30 p.m. before heading down to the field to be recognized at 6:45 p.m.
The girls will throw out ceremonial first pitches before the Intimidators take the field against the Delmarva Shorebirds at 7:05 p.m.
• Delmarva pitchers held Kannapolis scoreless over the final eight innings to beat the Intimidators 5-1 on Tuesday.

SAC men’s soccer
Wingate got 10 of 12 first-place votes and was picked as the favorite for this year’s men’s soccer race in the SAC.
Catawba was picked 10th in the preseason poll.
Catawba defender Phillip Hollenhorst was named to the preseason All-SAC second team.

Local golf
Sixty-one GARS members played the third round of the GARS annual tournament at Lexington Country Club.
Low ‘A’ Flight player was Gary Schenk with a net of 67.61. Low ‘B’ Flight player was Clive Mahaffey with a net of 68.56. Low ‘C’ Flight player was Bert Bollinger with a net of 71.79, Low ‘D’ Flight player was John Rader with a net of 72.92.
Corbin Hills
The Corbin Hills Women’s Golf Association played a “pink ball” game on Tuesday.
The winning team was Sharon Deal, Kristi Laton, Phyllis Nichols and Carole Payne. The second-place team was Bev Cobb, Toni Iossi, Joy Maughmer and Mary Seaford.

South YMCA
