Hobby Lobby is scheduled to be first of several retail stores to open at Summit Corporate Center.

After months of construction work, Hobby Lobby has scheduled its grand opening for September 7 at 9 a.m, according to an announcement posted online. Summit Corporate Center, including Hobby Lobby, is located near I-85’s Julian Road exit.

The online announcement says the store will be open for shopping after the grand opening event on September 7.

Site plans for Summit Corporate Center show six buildings with tenants already confirmed. Dick’s Sporting Goods, restaurant Salsarita’s Fresh Cantina, Mattress Firm, discount store Five Below and Kirklands are shown on the latest site plan by Charlotte-based marketing firm Providence Group. The plans show a 4,320 square-foot and 13,000 square-foot retail spaces without confirmed tenants.  The smallest anchor store space — 23,000 square feet — is also without a confirmed tenant.

Site plans show the main parking lots has 468 parking spaces. Two smaller parking lots at the site have 156 combined parking spaces.

Four lots remain undeveloped at the Summit Corporate Center Site. The lots are all less than 2 acres. The largest is 1.96 acres. The smallest is 1.19 acres.

A large portion of land next to the already developed space remains empty, but is shown on site plans as a potential phase 2 of development.

Summit Corporate Center is one of the most financially significant construction projects that have occurred to date in 2015. Less than a mile away, the headquarters of Agility Fuel Systems is also among the most financially significant construction projects.

Rowan County Commissioners approved the project in late 2014. Construction began shortly after.
