The Kannapolis Intimidators won 3-1 in the first game of a SAL doubleheader in Augusta on Tuesday.
Spencer Adams (5-4) pitched five scoreless innings. Matt Cooper got the last four outs and earned his seventh save.
• The Intimidators won 4-3 in 10 innings in the second game. The game was scheduled for seven innings.
In the bottom the seventh, Louis Silverio robbed Brennan Metzger of a walk-off home run, making the second out of the inning by bringing the ball back from over the left field fence.
Following scoreless eighth and ninth innings, Eddy Alvarez smashed a one-out triple in the top of the 10th, and Mason Robbins brought him home with a sac fly.

American Legion
Rowan County will be presented with a trophy for winning the Area III regular-season championship on Wednesday at Newman Park.
• In Area III games on Tuesday, No. 7 seed Winston-Salem evened its series with No. 2 High Point at a game apiece with a victory in extra innings. No. 3 Eastern Randolph took a 2-0 lead over No. 6 Kernersville, while No. 4 Randolph County took a 2-0 lead against No. 5 Davidson County.
• Round 3 is best-of-five and starts July 12.
The Rowan-Mocksville winner plays the Randolph-Davidson winner. The Eastern Randolph-Kernersville winner takes on the High Point-Winston-Salem winner.

Junior Legion
Carson hosts West Rowan on Wednesday at 7 in the first game of their playoff series. The teams play at West Rowan on Thursday.

Wood bat leagues
Roanoke Rails outfielder Luke Setzer (East Rowan, Catawba) and Mooresville Spinners pitcher Sean Grant (Catawba) were named to play in the Carolina-Virginia Collegiate League All-Star Game.
Setzer is batting .419 in 43 at-bats. Grant has a 4-2 record.

The eGolf Gateway Tour Returns to The Club at Irish Creek for the 11th Annual Southern Open on July 8-11.
Since its inception in 2005, the Southern Open has been one of the tour’s most popular events, annually attracting one of the strongest fields of the year, and consistently putting forth some of the top winners in tour history.
Frank Adams III (Salisbury, N.C.)
No player has logged more tournament rounds at Irish Creek than Adams, whose playing days go back to 2003 and the era when the club was known as Kannapolis Country Club.
The 36-year-old has been the tour’s most consistent performer this year, posting 10 top-25s in 10 starts, including career win No. 8 at the $200,000 Biggs Cadillac Buick GMC Open in May. Adams is currently No. 2 on the tour’s season-long money list with $51,185 in earnings.
• The Corbin Hills Women’s Golf Association played a low gross, low net game on Tuesday.

CAMBRAI, France — A brief look at the 4th stage of the Tour de France on Tuesday:
Stage: The Tour finally entered France, swinging over from Seraing in Belgium to Cambrai in northern France. The 223.5-kilometer (138.9-mile) ride featured seven feared cobblestone sections spread over more than 13 kilometers (8 miles).
Winner: German rider Tony Martin, a three-time world time trial champion, timed a late attack to perfection.
