Salisbury Police cited a Rocky Mount man after they discovered marijuana in the Bendix Drive hotel room where he was a guest.
As part of a regular foot patrol at area hotels on Bendix Drive, officers were at Super 8 motel early Saturday morning. Officers issued a citation to Randy Ray Smith, 51, of the 1900 block of Fletcher Drive, for simple possession of marijuana. The officers were walking through the motel and smelled marijuana coming from room 231. Officers knocked on the door and informed Smith why they were there.
Smith admitted that he smoked marijuana recently. Officers noted he seemed very nervous and saw marijuana sitting on the air conditioning unit. Officers confiscated two bags of marijuana, one that contained 17.6 grams and the other, 6.4 grams.
